Invitation for another UBC Old growth hike! Sunday, March 4th

A quick invitation from 4th year UBC Forestry student Ira Sutherland:

Due to popular demand, we have decided to do a repeat of the “Grand Tour,” this coming weekend!

Sunday March 4th –  Join us for the “UBC Grand Tour” with the UBC Ancient Forest Committee (AFC). The prime attraction of this 4 hour hike is a visit to “The Totem Giants,” which include a 65m tall grand fir (!!!). Additionally, we will pass some large maples, an eagle’s nest and some 1.5-2 m DBH Douglas-firs on our route to Wreck beach. This is some seriously fine forest, some of it just a 5 minute walk from our building!

-Meeting at 12pm at Bean Around the World Coffee shop at Thunderbird and Mainmall.

-The hike will be about 3 hours and end at Wreck Beach.

-Bring good footwear and suitable clothing
